Job description

Accommodation & Homelessness Support Worker • Location: Manchester • Job Type: Full-time Become an Accommodation & Homelessness Support Worker where you will be playing a crucial role in providing housing-related support and developing long-term housing solutions for residents facing homelessness. This position is integral within the Homelessness Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality temporary accommodation and support. Day-to-day of the role: • Conduct prompt assessments of customers referred for accommodation, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. • Provide high-quality housing-related support, advice, and advocacy to assist residents in accessing various support services related to benefits, education, employment, and resettlement options. • Offer intensive support for customers with complex needs, particularly those exhibiting antisocial behaviour, and develop holistic support plans with agreed individual targets. • Manage the upkeep and smooth operation of the temporary accommodation facilities, including property repairs, health and safety requirements, and rent collections. • Deliver a comprehensive building management service, including the preparation of flats for let, organising repairs and maintenance, and managing building services staff. • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on all aspects of service provision, adhering to City Council systems and financial regulations. • Contribute to the planning and implementation of changes in working practices and service delivery, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and contributing towards corporate goals. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Experience in housing support or a related field. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with customers and local agencies. • Proficient in planning, organising, and prioritising workloads in a dynamic environment. • Competent ICT skills with the ability to use multiple applications and systems. • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, capable of handling complex situations under pressure. • Must consent to and pass an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
