Accounts and Payroll AssistantAdecco is currently recruiting for an Accounts and Payroll Assistant to join a busy finance and administration team based in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented finance professional to play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a well-established organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of accounts administration and payroll processing, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and contributing to the smooth running of the finance function. Type: Permanent, Full-Time, with part-time hours considered for the right candidate Salary: £28,000 per annum Location: Office-based, Liverpool Key Responsibilities • Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end financial processes. • Process purchase and sales ledger transactions, ensuring invoices are recorded and paid accurately. • Assist with bank reconciliations and daily banking activities. • Support payroll processing, including the collation, checking, and submission of payroll information. • Liaise with payroll providers and employees regarding payroll-related queries. • Process staff expense claims and maintain payroll records. • Assist with account reconciliations and financial reporting. • Monitor and maintain financial documentation in line with organisational procedures. • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and relevant legislation. • Provide administrative support to the finance department and assist with ad hoc finance projects as required. Person SpecificationEssential Skills and Experience • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Payroll Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role. • Practical experience of payroll administration and payroll processes. • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail. • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial record keeping. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent. • Excellent organisational and time management skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Reliable, proactive, and adaptable approach to work. Desirable • Experience using accounting and payroll software. • AAT qualification or working towards a finance-related qualification. • Experience working within a charity, not-for-profit, or SME environment.
