Accounts Assistant Wellingborough Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive (d.o.e) The Opportunity We're looking for an organised and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This is a varied, hands-on role within a successful SME where no two days are the same. You'll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring financial records are accurate, supporting month-end processes and helping the Financial Controller deliver timely financial information. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their accounting experience within a supportive environment, with genuine opportunities to develop. Key Responsibilities: • Reconciling bank accounts and investigating discrepancies • Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve finance queries • Reconciling balance sheet control accounts • Assisting with month-end tasks including journals, accruals and prepayments • Processing purchase invoices, supplier payments and statement reconciliations • Raising sales invoices and supporting credit control activities • Supporting VAT return preparation • Assisting with cash flow reporting and maintaining accurate financial records • Helping prepare information for management accounts and year-end audit requirements • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis as required • Assisting with finance process improvements and system developments where appropriate Skills & Experience • Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn • Confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team • AAT qualified or studying (or equivalent experience) would be advantageous but is not essential Why Join?
