Finance / Accounts Assistant
Location: Wolverhampton
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday, Full Time 9am to 5pm with an early finish on Fridays.
Salary: Negotiable
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Finance / Accounts Assistant to join a busy and growing business on a temporary-to-permanent basis. Working within a friendly office of approximately 25 staff and supporting a large workforce of temporary employees, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across payroll and accounts processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Processing weekly and monthly payroll.
• Maintaining the sales ledger and raising invoices.
• Managing credit control activities and chasing outstanding payments.
• Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Processing receipts and payments accurately.
• Assisting with account queries and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and updating internal systems.
• Supporting month-end processes and reporting requirements.
• Using Xero and Microsoft Excel to manage financial data and produce reports.
• Providing administrative support to the wider finance team as required.
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Payroll Assistant, or similar role.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero or other accountancy packages.
• Confident user of Microsoft Excel.
• Payroll experience is essential.
• Experience with sales ledger, credit control, and bank reconciliations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach.
