Job description

Applicants are invited for this permanent post based within the Blood Science laboratory departments at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. Successful applicants will provide an administrative role to the professional clinical laboratory service. The Departmental Administrative Assistant will provide support to the laboratory management team within Blood Science (Including Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Clinical Chemistry departments). General duties include minute taking, general secretarial, clerical and office duties, use of IT applications, and handling telephone calls. Please refer to the job description for a more comprehensive list. The post holder must be able to work autonomously. You will require good keyboard skills and be proficient in the use of Office 365. The ability to multi-task, prioritise workload, work accurately under pressure and a flexible approach to work is essential. Educated to National 5 or equivalent qualification in English is required in addition to a secretarial qualification or equivalent experience. Working patterns will be Monday Friday but may include evening or weekends at the needs of the service. Visits to the department are encouraged. As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
