Job description

Robert Half Technology are assisting a growing sports media organisation to recruit an AI Engineer on a contract basis. Hybrid working - London based (3 days per week onsite). Role* The AI Engineer will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to identify, design, and deliver AI solutions that drive operational efficiency, audience engagement, and commercial value. * Partner with business leaders, product teams, and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate opportunities into practical AI use cases. * Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI applications, including AI assistants, intelligent search solutions, content automation tools, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) platforms. * Build and maintain scalable AI workflows and integrations across internal systems, APIs, and cloud environments. * Develop proof-of-concepts and rapidly iterate solutions, balancing innovation with business priorities and timelines. * Implement prompt engineering, model evaluation, testing, and monitoring frameworks to ensure reliable and high-quality outputs. * Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support AI and machine learning initiatives. * Establish best practices for AI development, deployment, governance, and ongoing optimisation. * Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to AI applications, data pipelines, and production environments. * Stay up to date with developments in Generative AI and identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies across the organisation. Profile* The AI Engineer will have proven experience delivering AI and machine learning solutions within small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, or scale-up businesses. * Strong experience working directly with business stakeholders, gathering requirements, prioritising initiatives, and delivering measurable business outcomes. * Proven commercial experience developing and deploying Generative AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar technologies. * Strong Python development experience with knowledge of frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent. * Experience designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, vector databases, and enterprise search capabilities. * Experience integrating AI solutions into existing business systems and workflows. * Strong understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Azure, including Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Services, or equivalent AWS/GCP technologies. * Comfortable operating in lean environments where individuals are expected to take ownership and wear multiple hats. * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical excellence with commercial priorities. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
