Job description
• To
receive and register patients who have died from both within the Trust and
across the local health economy.
• Entering
patient data on to the laboratory computer system.
• To
identify and register patients effects according to existing legal
requirements.
• To
store the patient according to the patients condition e.g. infectious state, in
accordance with department protocols.
• To
facilitate the confirmation of the patient identification.
• Prepare
patient for autopsy.
• Assist during the autopsy
process. This will include the removal of viscera, the display of tissues for
teaching purposes, use of specialist techniques when required, tissue and
sample taking where appropriate, data collection.
• To comply with all Department and Trust policies and procedures relating
to organ and tissue retention and ensue that records are correctly maintained.
