Art TechnicianLocation: Newham, East London Salary: Negotiable Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only Art Technician - Secondary School | NewhamAre you a creative, organised and enthusiastic individual with a passion for art and education? A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Newham is looking to appoint a dedicated Art Technician to support its successful Art Department from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in art, design or creative media who enjoys working in a busy school environment. Working alongside experienced teachers, you will play a key role in preparing practical lessons, maintaining equipment and ensuring students have access to the resources they need to thrive. The Role: • Prepare and organise materials, equipment and resources for practical Art lessons. • Support teachers during practical sessions where required. • Maintain and clean specialist art equipment, tools and workspaces. • Manage stock levels and order materials when necessary. • Display students' artwork around the school to celebrate achievement. • Ensure classrooms and storage areas are safe, tidy and well organised. • Assist with exhibitions, open evenings and departmental events. • Adhere to health and safety procedures within the Art Department. The Ideal Candidate: • A qualification or background in Art, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography or a related creative subject. • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. • Experience working with a range of artistic materials and equipment. • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting staff and students. • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential. • A genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people and creative education.
