Job description

Assistant Accountant • Location: Hounslow • Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time • Salary: £30,000 (based on experience) Join a high-quality, multi-award-winning relocation and storage company in London, recognised for excellence in our field. We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to manage both accounts payable and receivable, ensuring efficient financial operations within our dynamic team. Day-to-Day of the Role: Accounts Payable: • Process and input supplier invoices using Dext, Xero, and Approval Max. • Handle supplier queries, including requests for statements, invoices, and credit notes. • Check staff expenses and prepare them for payment. • Conduct monthly supplier reconciliations, addressing any discrepancies and maintaining accurate records. Accounts Receivable: • Manage and reconcile various forms of payment receipts including card, SO, Stripe, direct debit, and BACS in Moveware. • Handle the setup of new storage customer accounts and contract charges. • Raise storage invoices and credit notes as needed. • Process and manage customer payments and direct debit mandates. Credit Control: • Monitor customer accounts for irregularities and manage credit control processes. • Send statements and chase overdue payments via phone, email, and letter. • Handle customer queries and resolve issues promptly. • File court claims for bad debtors and perform credit checks on new commercial customers. Additional Duties: • Prepare reports and perform bank reconciliations between Xero and Barclays. • Manage administrative tasks, update insurance rates in Moveware, and ensure compliance with payment terms. • Provide weekly updates to management on storage revenue and turnover. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Proven experience in an accounts office environment. • Strong bookkeeping skills and experience. • Proficiency in Xero highly desirable. • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
