Assistant Accountant

Location: Manchester Area Salary: £30,000 - £40,000, plus additional benefits Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role Robert Half are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team of a growing and creative media company based in the Manchester area. This is a varied and hands-on opportunity suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Working closely with senior finance colleagues, you will support the day-to-day finance function, assisting with month-end processes, financial reporting and transactional accounting while gaining exposure across the wider business. Key Responsibilities • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end close • Post journals, accruals and prepayments, and complete balance sheet reconciliations • Maintain the purchase and sales ledgers, including supplier and customer reconciliations • Process payment runs and monitor cash flow • Assist with credit control and resolve invoice queries • Support payroll preparation by liaising with the outsourced payroll provider • Assist with VAT returns and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date • Support budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis • Work closely with senior finance colleagues to support reporting, financial controls and process improvements About You • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA • Good understanding of month-end accounting processes and double-entry bookkeeping • Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills • Proactive, reliable and able to manage changing priorities within a fast-paced environment • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business What's on Offer • Competitive basic salary of £30,000 - £40,000, depending on experience • Opportunity to develop within a growing and innovative media business • Exposure to a broad range of finance responsibilities beyond transactional accounting • Study support available • Supportive finance team with genuine career progression opportunities • Competitive benefits package Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
