Assistant Accountant – Temporary 9mnths+
Location: Commutable from Loughborough, Coalville, Ashby, Swadlincote, Burton, NW Leics areas
Working arrangements: Hybrid – M-Wed in office, Thurs-Fri from home
Duration: minimum 9months initially
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim/Temporary Assistant Financial Accountant to join the finance team of a leading business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to gain exposure to business transformation and finance integration projects. The successful candidate will support the Financial Accounting team with month-end reporting, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls while working closely with colleagues across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting month-end close activities
• Posting journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll and depreciation
• Maintaining fixed asset records
• Preparing and reconciling intercompany balances
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations
• Daily cashbook postings for receipts and payments
• Investigating and resolving outstanding cash items
• Completing monthly bank reconciliations across multiple currency accounts
• Processing payroll payment set-up
• Assisting with VAT reporting and VAT journals
• Providing information to support external audits
• Supporting finance improvement initiatives and business integration projects as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant, Accountant or Finance Officer position
• AAT qualification or be currently studying AAT or other finance qualification would be advantageous
• Experience with:
• Bank reconciliations
• Journal postings
• Month-end accounting
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Cashbook processing
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems, ideally JDE
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• The ability to build effective working relationships across different teams
• A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities
