Assistant Management Accountant

£35,000 + study support
Are you a motivated finance professional currently working as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Finance Analyst, or Assistant Management Accountant and looking for a role that will accelerate your career?

What you'll be doing
As Assistant Management Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the finance function by helping deliver accurate financial information and contributing to continuous improvement across the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs.
• Assisting with month-end close activities, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Producing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating outstanding items.
• Monitoring overhead expenditure and supporting departmental cost analysis.
• Preparing financial data to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Reviewing payroll-related accounting entries and ensuring accurate financial posting.
• Reconciling intercompany balances and assisting with internal recharging processes.
• Supporting cash management activities, including bank reconciliations and cash reporting.
• Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory financial reporting requirements.
• Maintaining financial records and ensuring accounting data remains accurate and compliant.
• Working with operational teams to resolve financial queries and improve reporting accuracy.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline finance processes and improve reporting efficiency.
• Supporting year-end audit requirements and providing information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assisting with finance projects, system improvements and business change initiatives.
• Providing wider support across the finance team whenever required
What we're looking for
We're looking for an ambitious individual who is keen to build a long-term career within finance.
You'll ideally have:
• A Finance, Accounting or Business-related degree, or equivalent experience.
• Around 2-3 years' experience within a finance or accounting environment.
• Experience supporting month-end processes or management accounts.
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS and data analysis.
