About the Associate/Director role We are TC Group, the fastest-growing top 20 accountancy firm in the UK. We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Director to lead a substantial client portfolio, drive business development initiatives, and play a key role in the continued growth and success of our practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional client service. Key responsibilities will include: • Managing a significant portfolio of owner-managed businesses and corporate clients, acting as the lead relationship partner • Delivering proactive accounting, tax and business advisory services that add tangible value to clients • Identifying opportunities to support client growth, improve financial performance and expand service offerings • Ensuring all client work is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest professional standards • Developing new business opportunities through networking, referrals and existing client relationships • Preparing proposals, fee quotations and supporting wider cross-selling initiatives across the firm • Leading, mentoring and developing managers and senior team members to create a high-performance culture • Supporting recruitment, retention, succession planning and employee development • Taking responsibility for portfolio profitability, recovery, billing performance and debtor management • Reviewing complex accounts, tax computations and advisory projects, providing technical guidance where required • Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements • Contributing to strategic planning, operational improvements, business growth initiatives and practice development • Acting as an ambassador for TC Group's culture, values and reputation within the local business community Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Client retention and satisfaction • Portfolio growth and fee generation • New business won • Recovery and profitability metrics • Staff engagement and retention • Technical quality and compliance standards • Delivery against budget and deadlines About you We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience: • ACA or ACCA qualified • Minimum of 10 years' experience within UK public practice • Extensive experience managing a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, Corporation Tax, Personal Tax and business advisory services • Proven leadership and people management experience • Demonstrable success in business development and client relationship management • Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills • Experience using CCH, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications Full benefits available for the Associate/Director role: • 25 days Associate / 30 days Directors annual leave (excluding bank holidays) • Pension scheme • Group life assurance 4 x salary • Group income protection • Health cash plan • Birthday day off • Hybrid working between office and home • Social events • Access to our employee benefits portal – GP and prescription services, cashback and vouchers on everyday purchases • Employee Assistance Programme • Employee Referral Bonus – we’re always looking for talented individuals to join our team • Regular training and development - continuous development and support not only for your professional qualifications but also for your personal goals and aspirations About us TC Group is growing and changing at quite a pace!
