We're recruiting for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join a growing finance team within a leading sports organisation. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you'll play an integral role in supporting month-end reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations. The RoleAs the Assistant Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include: • Supporting the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. • Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations. • Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations. • Maintaining the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals and depreciation. • Assisting with the annual external audit by preparing supporting schedules and documentation. • Processing purchase invoices and managing supplier payment runs. • Raising sales invoices and supporting credit control activities. • Managing shared finance inboxes and responding to supplier and internal finance queries. • Building strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business. • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting. About YouWe're looking for someone who is motivated, organised and keen to continue developing their accounting career. You'll ideally have: • Part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or at least two years' experience within an accounting or finance role. • Experience supporting month-end close and posting journals. • Strong reconciliation skills and excellent attention to detail. • Exposure to statutory audits would be advantageous. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. • The confidence to work effectively with both finance and non-finance teams. • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. • Strong Excel skills. • Experience using Sage 50 is highly desirable, while Sage or Xero experience would be advantageous. Previous experience within a fast-paced commercial environment is beneficial, and an interest in sport would be a distinct advantage.
