Autism Tutor / Qualified Teacher – Lewisham Ages 11–25 | 1:1 Tuition £25.00–£35.00 per hour PAYE + Paid Planning & Preparation Time Equivalent to approximately £30.00–£42.00 per hour Flexible Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities Are you a qualified teacher or an experienced tutor with experience supporting autistic young people? New Chapter Tuition is recruiting experienced Tutors and Qualified Teachers to provide personalised 1:1 tuition and educational support for learners aged 11–25 across Lewisham. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with individual learners, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and achieve meaningful educational outcomes through tailored support. Many learners have an EHCP and require specialist support due to Autism (ASC). Some learners may also present with ADHD, anxiety, Dyslexia, speech and language needs, sensory processing differences, or other additional needs. About the RoleWorking on a 1:1 basis, you will plan and deliver engaging tuition that is tailored to each learner's strengths, interests, communication style, and educational goals. You will create a positive learning environment that promotes engagement, confidence, independence, and progress. Key Responsibilities • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition and educational support • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual communication, sensory, and learning needs • Deliver English and Maths tuition where appropriate • Support learners to achieve academic, personal, and EHCP outcomes • Build positive relationships with learners and families • Complete session reports and progress updates • Work collaboratively with families, schools, Local Authorities, and other professionals • Follow safeguarding policies and maintain accurate records Desirable ExperienceExperience supporting autistic learners and using strategies such as: • PECS • Makaton • Now and Next boards • Visual timetables • Sensory regulation strategies • Autism-specific teaching approaches • Relationship-led and neurodiversity-affirming practice What We're Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or substantial tutoring experience Experience supporting autistic children and young people Confidence adapting learning to individual needs Experience delivering English and Maths tuition Strong communication and relationship-building skills Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to obtain one Right to work in the UK What We Offer £25.00–£35.00 per hour PAYE Paid Planning & Preparation Time Equivalent earning potential of approximately £30.00–£42.00 per hour Flexible working opportunities Long-term learner placements Ongoing CPD and specialist SEND training Dedicated safeguarding and tutor support The opportunity to make a lasting difference to young people's lives Whether you're a qualified teacher looking for greater flexibility or an experienced tutor passionate about supporting autistic learners, we'd love to hear from you.
