Job Title – Biomass Engineer Their Purpose – A leading provider of renewable heating technologies, specialising in the service, maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial biomass systems. Supporting customers nationwide with high-quality engineering expertise and reliable site-based services. Location & Flexibility – Field-based – South of UK – M4 Corridor Salary & Benefits – Competitive salary + overtime – time & half, company vehicle, mobile phone, expenses, pension (post-probation), 25 days holiday + bank holidays. About the Job As a Biomass Engineer, you will provide specialist on-site support across a wide portfolio of commercial & industrial biomass boiler systems. This field-based role involves servicing, fault finding, repairs and operational support to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations. You will work independently across multiple sites, delivering planned and reactive maintenance, supporting commissioning activities and ensuring all work is completed to the highest technical and safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Carry out planned servicing, maintenance and repairs on biomass boilers and fuel feed systems • Diagnose and rectify faults on biomass boilers, combustion systems and associated equipment • Complete breakdown cover, reactive maintenance and emergency call-outs when required • Conduct electrical and mechanical fault-finding to component/board level • Produce accurate service reports, documentation and photographic evidence • Liaise professionally with customers, site managers and subcontractors • Support commissioning activities and remedial works • Work safely and in full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures • Maintain and update supporting documents, checklists and technical records • Participate in ongoing training, development reviews and technical upskilling About You • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical or electrical discipline • Full UK Driving Licence • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills • Experience servicing, repairing or commissioning biomass boilers (commercial/industrial) • Knowledge of combustion systems and biomass boiler operation • Basic understanding of PLC control systems (HMI adjustments, parameter updates) • Understanding of heating systems, pumps, valves and safety controls • IT-literate with ability to complete reports and documentation accurately • Able to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team • Positive attitude, self-motivated and customer-focused Desirable • Experience with manufacturers such as Froling, ETA, Herz, Binder, Hargassener, Heizomat, HDG, KWB or Abi • 2391 Testing & Inspection • Basic welding skills • Basic plumbing/pipefitting (gauges, sensor pockets, valve bodies, safety valves) • Previous experience with large-scale biomass or machinery systems Contract & Benefits • Contract: Full-Time, Permanent • Salary: Competitive + overtime (door to door) • Pension: Available after probation • Benefits: Company vehicle, mobile phone, expenses • Holiday: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays If this role isn’t quite right for you, we would still love to hear from you to discuss other opportunities across the team.
