Job description

Your new company A growing charity are seeking a temporary Bookkeeper to be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing day-to-day transactions, and supporting the production of financial reports. Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you will play a vital role in ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with charity and accounting regulations. Your new role • Maintain the charity's financial records. • Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, and staff expenses. • Manage sales invoices, income recording, and credit control. • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and control accounts. • Process and reconcile payroll journals. • Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting. • Support budget monitoring and grant income/expenditure tracking. • Maintain accurate records for restricted and unrestricted funds. • Assist with year-end accounts preparation and external audits. • Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements and internal financial policies. • Support continuous improvement of financial processes and systems. What you'll need to succeed • Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within a charity, not-for-profit, or SME environment. • Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles. • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks. • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
