Branch ManagerLocation: East Sussex
Hours: Full-time, Permanent (Monday–Friday with occasional Saturday rota)
Reports to: Regional Manager
The OpportunityWe're working with an established and growing independent building merchant looking to appoint an Branch Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy, trade-focused branch.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work closely with the Branch Manager to drive sales, support the team, and deliver an outstanding service to both trade and retail customers. You'll play a key part in the commercial success of the branch while helping to create a positive, high-performing environment.
The RoleAs Branch Manager, you'll be involved in every aspect of branch operations. From supporting the commercial performance of the branch to developing customer relationships and leading the team, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their management career.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the day-to-day management and commercial performance of the branch.
• Help drive sales growth through excellent customer service and account development.
• Lead, motivate and coach the branch team, ensuring high standards across the counter, office and yard.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and prospective trade customers.
• Assist with stock management, pricing, purchasing and supplier relationships.
• Ensure health & safety, compliance and operational standards are maintained.
• Support the Branch Manager with branch reporting, profitability and overall performance.

You'll ideally have:
• Previous supervisory or management experience within a builders' merchant, building supplies, trade distribution or a similar sector.
• A strong commercial mindset with the ability to spot opportunities to grow sales and improve performance.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• A hands-on approach with a willingness to get involved in all areas of the branch.
• Experience developing customer relationships and delivering exceptional service.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
