Business Support Officer
• Job Type: Temporary, Full-time
• Location: Sheffield , South Yorkshire , S2 1GD
• Duration: 7-8 months
• Pay: £13.45 per hour PAYE
• Working Hours: 9am till 5pm (Office Based)
Sheffield City Council are seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer to join their team, providing high-quality service to customers, including the public and Funeral Directors. This role is ideal for someone who is professional, empathetic, and capable of handling sensitive situations with care, respecting religious, cultural, and individual needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Engage with customers through various channels such as telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions, ensuring a high-quality experience by responding promptly to enquiries and resolving complaints efficiently.
• Assist with chapel duties and support the administrative aspects of funeral and memorial services, including processing applications and legal documentation with high accuracy.
• Maintain comprehensive records, manage data input, and take responsibility for financial tasks such as invoice processing, budget monitoring, and banking income.
• Uphold a positive image of the service within the community and among partners, continuously improving customer relations and service quality.
• Manage office environment standards and resource inventory, ensuring everything is well-organized and adequately stocked.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT systems, particularly the software used for Cemetery and Crematoria Administration.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Proven experience in customer service, preferably in a face-to-face environment. Experience with bereaved individuals is advantageous but not essential.
• Familiarity with Windows-based products and the ability to quickly learn new software, such as Plotbox.
• Strong administrative skills, including high accuracy in data entry, record keeping, and processing financial documents.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of dealing with sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
• Knowledge of legal requirements related to burial and cremation services is preferred.
• Ability to work independently, organize workloads effectively, and take initiative in a team support role.
