Domiciliary Care Assistant Job Title: Domiciliary Care Assistant / Care Worker Location: East Sussex - Redhill & Reigate Job Type: Full-time / Part-time Salary: £14.24 per hour Job Summary We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Domiciliary Care Assistants to join our growing care team. This role is suitable for both experienced care professionals and individuals looking to begin a rewarding career in health and social care. Key Responsibilities Personal Care • Assist clients with bathing, showering, washing, grooming, and personal hygiene and dressing. • Provide continence care and toileting support while preserving dignity and respect. • Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate moving and handling techniques. Medication Support • Prompt, assist, or administer medication in accordance with care plans and company procedures. • Maintain accurate medication records. • Report any concerns regarding medication compliance or changes in health condition. Daily Living Support • Assist clients with day-to-day activities and routines. • Encourage clients to maintain as much independence as possible. • Provide support with shopping, collecting prescriptions, and attending appointments when required. Meal Preparation and Nutrition • Prepare meals, snacks, and beverages according to individual preferences and dietary requirements. • Support clients with eating and drinking where necessary. • Monitor nutrition and hydration and report any concerns. Companionship and Emotional Support • Develop positive and professional relationships with clients. • Provide companionship and meaningful social interaction. • Help reduce loneliness and social isolation. Monitoring and Reporting • Observe and report changes in clients' physical or emotional wellbeing. • Maintain accurate care records, daily notes, and incident reports. • Communicate effectively with supervisors, healthcare professionals, and family members where appropriate. Safeguarding and Compliance • Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures. • Promote the safety, dignity, choice, and rights of all service users. • Adhere to health and safety, infection control, and confidentiality requirements. • Comply with all relevant legislation, regulatory standards, and company policies. Person Specification Essential Criteria • Caring, compassionate, and patient nature. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and use initiative. • Professional, reliable, and trustworthy approach. • Good time-management and organisational skills. • Right to work in the UK. • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required. Desirable Criteria • Previous experience in domiciliary care, healthcare, support work, or a similar role. • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care. • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. • Knowledge of person-centred care, safeguarding, medication support, and moving and handling practices.
