CATIA V5 Surface Design Engineer Airframe Engineering | Aerospace Sector We are seeking an experienced CATIA V5 Surface Design Engineer to join our Airframe Engineering team based in our Bristol or Runcorn Offices with Hybrid working on an initial Inside IR35 6 month contract. The CATIA V5 Surface Design Engineer role is ideal for a skilled aerospace design professional with strong surfacing expertise and experience working within a product lifecycle management environment. Key Responsibilities • Create and modify complex aircraft surfaces using advanced CATIA V5 surfacing workbenches. • Develop aerodynamic surfaces from basic 2D sectional data to support analysis, prototype development, and aircraft design activities. • Verify and validate surfaces to ensure continuity, tangency, and quality requirements are achieved. • Compile and maintain Bills of Materials (BoM). • Work within PLM environments, managing product structures and engineering change lifecycles. • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams throughout the aircraft development process. Essential Skills & Experience • CATIA V5 Advanced Shape and Surface Design (or equivalent higher-level surfacing workbenches). • Teamcenter. • Experience working within PLM systems and engineering data management environments. Technical Competencies • Advanced surface generation and modification techniques in CATIA V5. • Creation of aerospace surfaces from sectional data and design requirements. • Surface quality assessment, including continuity and tangency verification. • Bill of Materials (BoM) creation and management. • Understanding of product lifecycle processes and configuration management. Desirable Experience • Aerospace Engineering background. • Aircraft aerodynamic surface generation, modification, and validation. • Experience supporting aircraft development programmes. • Knowledge of prototype and development-phase engineering activities.
