Clinical Matron Inpatient/Maternity Services

To provide clinical, professional and midwifery leadership to a group of wards in a clinical team/ teams. To be identifiable, highly visible, authoritative and accessible to patients, carers and staff for assistance, advice and support. This post provides strong compassionate, transformational, and inclusive leadership, with a visible, senior midwifery presence accessible to staff, our service users and their families for advice, assistance and support. The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of optimum quality family-centred care in their area/s of responsibility, and in line with the ten key matron responsibilities outlined nationally. As Matron the post holder is expected to ensure that the services provided are responsive to needs, that the planning of services involves women, birthing people and their families, and reflects the diverse population served. There is an expectation that the post holder will work closely with other matrons, divisional directors of Midwifery and Nursing, and colleagues within the division and across divisional and Trust boundaries in the interest of safe and equitable care. You will represent the clinical speciality and the WCH division as required internally and externally, deputising when requested for the Deputy Divisional Director of and Midwifery Nursing. This post holder is expected to work part of their time available within clinical practice.
