CNC Programmer Precision Engineering | Advanced Manufacturing | Career Development We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Programmer to join a highly successful precision engineering manufacturer based in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC professional who enjoys developing efficient machining processes, solving manufacturing challenges, and driving continuous improvement. Working closely with production, engineering, and quality teams, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality precision components for demanding industries. The Role As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for creating, developing, and optimising CNC programmes for a range of complex precision-machined components. You will work closely with CNC Setters, Operators, Engineers, and Production Leaders to ensure components are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards while supporting productivity and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Create, develop, and maintain CNC programmes for milling and turning applications. • Generate programmes for complex precision components from a variety of materials. • Optimise cycle times, tooling strategies, and machining methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs. • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications. • Select and specify cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding solutions. • Provide technical support to CNC Setters and Operators during production. • Troubleshoot programme, tooling, and machining issues. • Conduct process proving and first-off validation of new programmes. • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. • Maintain accurate programme records, setup documentation, and process sheets. • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure customer requirements are achieved. • Assist with the introduction of new products and manufacturing processes. Essential Skills & Experience • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer within a precision engineering environment. • Strong understanding of CNC milling and/or turning processes. • Experience programming CNC machines using Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls. • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications. • Strong knowledge of GD&T and precision machining principles. • Understanding of tooling, cutting parameters, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies. • Experience producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards. • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills. • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. • Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Desirable Experience • Offline programming experience using CAM software. • Aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing experience. • Multi-axis machining experience (3, 4 and 5-axis). • Knowledge of OEE and continuous improvement methodologies. • Experience supporting new product introduction and process development. • Familiarity with CMM and advanced inspection systems.
