Commercial Manager Location Hybrid Working | Office-based during onboarding in Halifax, followed by a client-facing hybrid role Salary Up to £50,000 (DOE) + Commission + Company Bonus About the Company Our client is a well-established principal main contractor specialising in fast-paced planned and reactive maintenance projects across the construction sector. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality maintenance solutions, they have built long-standing relationships across sectors including retail and charities and are now entering an exciting phase of growth. As part of their expansion plans, they are looking to appoint a Commercial Business Manager. For the right individual, this role can naturally evolve into a blend of business development and account management, offering an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing business. The Role This is a commercially focused position combining new business generation with client relationship management. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, securing maintenance contracts, and developing long-term relationships with existing customers to maximise revenue growth. The role is highly client-facing and offers the autonomy to manage your own diary, spending the majority of your time meeting clients, developing relationships and identifying opportunities across your region. Following an initial onboarding period where you'll work closely with the wider team to understand the business, its culture and service offering, you'll transition into a hybrid role with significant time spent on the road visiting clients. Key Responsibilities • Proactively identify and generate new business opportunities. • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients across targeted sectors. • Develop relationships with key decision-makers. • Secure planned and reactive maintenance contracts. • Negotiate commercial agreements and framework opportunities. • Research emerging markets and identify areas for business growth. • Manage a portfolio of approximately 5-10 client accounts (depending on size). • Build strong, long-term relationships with existing customers. • Identify opportunities to grow accounts through additional service offerings. • Act as the primary point of contact for your client portfolio. • Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction. • Support both the commercial and operational aspects of client relationships. About You We are looking for someone with ambition, energy and the desire to build lasting client relationships. Whether your strengths lie in winning new business or developing existing accounts, you'll be commercially driven and passionate about delivering exceptional customer service. You'll ideally have: • Experience in Business Development, Account Management or a commercially focused client-facing role. • Experience within construction, maintenance, facilities management or a related industry would be advantageous. • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to spot opportunities for growth. • Confidence presenting to clients and negotiating commercial agreements. • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a genuine desire to develop business.
