Job description

The Company We are working exclusively with a high-growth manufacturing business to recruit a newly created Commodity Specialist position. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation undergoing significant transformation within its procurement function, as it evolves to meet the demands of an increasingly complex supply chain. The Opportunity As Commodity Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between engineering, procurement, and the supply base. This is a highly visible position, supporting both operational delivery and long-term sourcing strategy within a fast-paced, technically-driven environment. Working closely with R&D and production teams, you will take ownership of key electronic component categories. This role has been created to enable smarter sourcing decisions, improve supplier engagement and resilience across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities • Lead sourcing activity for electronic components, with an initial focus on PCBs • Identify and evaluate alternative components, ensuring technical compatibility and commercial viability • Support engineering teams with component selection and design-related procurement input • Drive supply risk mitigation strategies, including dual and multi-sourcing approaches • Build strong relationships with suppliers, distributors and internal stakeholders • Analyse market conditions to inform sourcing strategies and long-term planning • Provide hands-on support in resolving sourcing challenges and supply shortages About You We are seeking a motivated and technically capable procurement professional with a strong track record in electronics- or related manufacturing environments. The successful Commodity Specialist will bring: • Experience in sourcing electronic components (e.g. PCBs, semiconductors, or similar) • Strong understanding of supplier and distributor networks within electronics • Ability to assess component alternatives and manage sourcing decisions around cost, risk, and availability • Experience working alongside engineering or product development teams • Strong commercial awareness and supplier negotiation capability • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to operate at pace Why Apply?
