Job description

i. To use specialist nursing skills in working with people with learning disabilities to maintain, promote and improve health. ii. To support people with learning disabilities to develop their full potential by reducing the impact of their impairment that could limit their social inclusion in a person-centred approach to promote choice, independence and inclusion, iii. To facilitate the access to health care services through collaborative and partnership working with primary and secondary health, or other relevant services. iv. To contribute to shaping local health services (e.g., development of local protocols and policies), promoting an inclusive service for people with learning disabilities. v. Actively participate in the planning and development of shared care with primary and secondary health services, e.g., GP Link Role, Nurse Led Epilepsy Clinic, and Sexual Relationship & Health Promotion etc. vi. This role involves undertaking a number of assessments as per service requirement vii. You will have substantial knowledge of the health and social needs of individuals with learning disabilities: awareness of current legislation and best practice in the field of learning disability nursing.
