Job description

Newstaff Employment Services has an opening for an experienced construction Buyer to join our client's successful company. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional looking to work in a dynamic environment where you will play a key role in sourcing materials and services necessary for successful project delivery. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that the materials and equipment needed for construction projects are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. Your contributions will be crucial in maintaining project timelines and budgets while ensuring the highest quality standards are met. Responsibilities • Manage the purchasing process for construction materials, tools, and services. • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers; negotiate terms and pricing to secure optimal contracts. • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions. • Collaborate with project managers to determine material needs and specifications. • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information. • Ensure the timely delivery of materials to project sites to maintain schedules. • Conduct regular reviews of procurement policies and practices to ensure compliance and efficiency. • Resolve any procurement-related issues or discrepancies. Requirements • Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist in the construction industry. • Strong negotiation and communication skills. • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities. • Understanding of construction materials, pricing, and procurement processes. • Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision making. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
