Job description

Description and requirementsAt Skanska, we're shaping the way we live, work and connect. As one of the world's largest construction and development companies, we work together with customers, communities and partners to shape a better society. We are looking for a Senior Construction Manager to join our team, supporting the delivery of major, complex data centre projects. Based initially in Slough, you will play a key role in leading the day-to-day construction management of defined build package elements, helping to ensure work is planned, coordinated and delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. This is an opportunity to take a leading role on a technically challenging project, where your construction expertise and site leadership will make a real difference. You will work closely with our Building Services leadership team and collaborate with design, commercial, planning, commissioning and supply chain colleagues to make sure build elements are fully integrated into the wider MEP-led programme. In this role, you will oversee the successful delivery of building, structural, architectural, logistics, fit-out and interface works within a data centre environment. You will also be responsible for identifying, coordinating and proactively managing key interfaces across the project, helping to drive safe, high-quality delivery at every stage. As the Senior Construction Manager, you will: • Support our Building Services leadership team in planning, coordinating and delivering key build package elements across major data centre projects. • Take ownership of the day-to-day construction management of assigned packages, ensuring work is delivered safely, to the highest quality standards, on programme and within budget. • Work closely with Building Services, MEP leads, commissioning teams and specialist subcontractors to coordinate critical interfaces between building works and services installations. • Partner with Design Managers to review and coordinate Stage 4 and Stage 5 design information, helping to turn design intent into practical, buildable construction solutions. • Contribute to the procurement process alongside our commercial team, supporting scope development, package reviews, subcontractor engagement, technical clarifications and buildability assessments. • Help develop and manage short-term and look-ahead programmes with planning, design, commercial and operational teams, supporting effective production control and efficient site sequencing. We are looking for: • You will bring solid experience in a Senior Construction Manager, Construction Manager or similar role, gained on major construction projects. • You will have successfully led significant packages of work from design coordination and procurement through to construction, commissioning support and handover. • You will combine strong technical knowledge with a practical understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, temporary works, safety, quality and programme management. • You will be confident working in a data centre or another highly serviced, technically demanding environment. • You will have a collaborative approach and experience of working closely with MEP, commissioning, design, commercial, planning and supply chain teams. • You will be comfortable in a services-led project environment, where close integration between building works, MEP systems and commissioning is essential. • You will be an effective site leader, with proven experience managing site teams, subcontractors and supervisors to achieve safe, high-quality delivery. What we offer: • 24/7 digital GP service for you and your family • Financial wellbeing and employee assistance • Professional development • Enhanced family benefits (including maternity, paternity, dependants and parental bereavement leave) Inclusion and Diversity We thrive through embracing differences as we know that diversity opens a rich potential for new ways of thinking, helping us to build successful and high-performing teams.
