Consumer Protection and Advertising Co-ordinator
Are you looking for an opportunity to influence business decisions, drive compliance and support customer trust in a fast-paced retail environment?
As a Consumer Protection and Marketing Co-ordinator within the Legal & Compliance team, you will play a key role in delivering Asda's Consumer Protection and Marketing Compliance Programme. Working across multiple business functions, you will provide practical compliance advice, develop policies and guidance, deliver training, support audits and monitoring activities, and help shape how Asda responds to an evolving regulatory landscape.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of consumer protection, advertising and age-restricted sales initiatives, supporting commercial innovation while ensuring legal compliance and customer confidence.
Your Role
As a Consumer Protection and Advertising Co-Ordinator you will:
• Provide consumer protection and advertising compliance advice to business teams on a diverse range of matters including; pricing, claims, age restricted sales, and advertising
• Support the operation of Asda’s Challenge 25 test purchase programme. Including:
• Business support and administration associated with age-restricted sales compliance.
• Supporting the review and implementation of new regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to readiness activities for new regulator frameworks and assurance programmes such as the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act in relation to Drip Pricing, Customer Reviews, Subscription contracts and Customer Saving Schemes.
• Support implementation of new consumer protection legislation such as the Price Marking Order (Amendment) and Deposit Return Schemes.
• Monitor developments in retail compliance and recommend appropriate business responses.
• Lead the creation, review and maintenance of consumer protection policies, procedures and guidance documents.
• Support in the development and delivery of training programmes across key compliance areas, including advertising, environmental claims and consumer protection obligations.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify risks, implement controls and drive continuous improvement.
• Investigate and respond to Trading Standards and regulatory by establishing root cause while advising the business on how to resolve consumer protection issues.
• Review marketing communications and campaigns across Asda and George brands.
• Support responses to Advertising Standards Authority enquiries, complaints and referrals through investigation, corrective actions and root cause analysis.
About You
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
• A good understanding of consumer protection legislation including the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act and the wider regulatory environment.
• Knowledge of advertising regulation, including the CAP and BCAP Codes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• The ability to assess risk and provide practical, commercially focused solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
• High attention to detail combined with the ability to understand wider business impacts.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, guidance or training materials.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A collaborative approach and ability to build strong working relationships across business functions.
• A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
