Contracts & Data Officer
• Hourly Rate: £16.35 PAYE / £21.22 Umbrella
• Location: S71, Barnsley
• Job Type: Temporary
We are seeking temporary Contracts & Data Officers to support waste disposal and Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) contracts within a busy local authority service. This role is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, who thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms and performance standards.
• Analyse complex payment mechanisms and validate invoices to ensure accurate reporting and timely processing of payments.
• Manage stakeholder queries, attend contract meetings, and conduct site inspections to oversee operational effectiveness.
• Lead on resolving complex queries, issues, and disputes with customers and contractors, ensuring seamless service delivery and handling complaints effectively.
• Provide professional advice, guidance, and information to a range of stakeholders including government departments and partnership agencies.
• Identify breaches of contract conditions or performance standards and assist in agreeing on appropriate remedial actions.
• Undertake performance management, complex data analysis, and interpretation to promote quality practice and continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Assist with procurement activities to ensure value for money and compliance with legal standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Level 3 qualification (e.g., ILM Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent vocational/technical qualification).
• Experience in contract management within a regulated environment, preferably in waste management or local authority settings.
• Strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and the key principles of contract management.
• Proficient in performance management, including setting targets, planning, and monitoring performance.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety systems and procedures necessary for effective contract management.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce quality documentation and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to organise and prioritise conflicting workloads effectively.
