Role: Costs Lawyer Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid CRA Consulting is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm to recruit an experienced Senior Costs Lawyer or Costs Draftsperson to join its in-house costs team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting a leading legal aid family department. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing complex and detailed legal aid bills, managing high-value and high-cost matters, and contributing to the continued development of electronic billing processes and reporting systems. Working closely with colleagues across the team, you will help ensure the highest standards of legal aid billing and compliance are consistently maintained. The Role Key responsibilities include: • Preparing complex and detailed legal aid bills. • Managing high-cost legal aid matters from instruction through to conclusion. • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of electronic billing and data input processes. • Assisting with reporting and quality assurance functions. • Working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements. About You The successful candidate will have: • Previous experience as a Costs Lawyer or Costs Draftsperson, ideally within legal aid. • A strong understanding of legal aid billing procedures. • Comprehensive knowledge of the Client and Cost Management System (CCMS). • Excellent IT skills and attention to detail. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment. • A proactive approach and a genuine interest in contributing to a highly respected legal aid practice.
