Job description
We are looking for a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our school team. In this role, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain on task and follow the work that has been set.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience working with young people who wants to build further classroom experience in a supportive school environment.
Key responsibilities
• Supervise classes using pre-prepared work left by the teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Support students in completing tasks and staying engaged in learning.
• Respond to questions about instructions and lesson processes.
• Report back to teaching staff on pupil progress, behaviour and any issues arising during the lesson.
• Help maintain a safe, positive and productive learning environment.
• Follow school procedures for safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety.
The ideal candidate will have
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or education setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good behaviour management and classroom presence.
• The ability to stay calm, organised and professional under pressure.
• A flexible and positive approach.
• Good standards of English and Maths.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor or in a similar role.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification or degree.
• Knowledge of school policies and classroom procedures.
