Credit ControllerLocation: Oxfordshire Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 The CompanyOur client is a well-established and highly respected construction business with a strong reputation for delivering quality projects across the region. The RoleAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a confident and proactive Credit Controller to join the finance team of this successful construction business. Working closely with customers, subcontractors, project teams, and colleagues across the business, you will be responsible for managing the sales ledger, reducing outstanding debt, and ensuring timely cash collection. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive working relationships while maintaining effective credit control procedures. Key Responsibilities • Proactively manage and maintain customer accounts to ensure prompt payment of outstanding invoices • Chase overdue payments via telephone, email, and written correspondence • Process and allocate customer payments accurately • Maintain and reconcile the sales ledger • Produce customer statements, copies of invoices, and supporting documentation • Investigate and resolve payment queries, disputes, and account discrepancies • Process new credit account applications and carry out credit checks • Review and monitor customer credit limits and payment terms • Prepare aged debt reports and provide regular updates to management • Liaise with project managers and operational teams regarding customer accounts and outstanding payments • Support the wider finance department with additional accounting and administrative duties as required • Provide cover across finance functions during periods of absence or increased workload Requirements • Previous experience within Credit Control, Sales Ledger, or Accounts Receivable • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills • Strong organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple priorities • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications • Experience using accounting software packages • High level of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Professional and confident approach when dealing with customers • Strong administrative and problem-solving skills • Experience within construction, engineering, or a project-based environment would be advantageous Benefits • Competitive salary • Pension scheme • Employee wellbeing support programme • Health cash plan • Staff discount scheme • Recognition and long-service awards • Death in service benefit • Supportive and collaborative working environment • Opportunities for training, development, and career progression This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller looking to join a successful and growing construction business, where they can play a key role in supporting cash flow, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to the continued success of the company.
