IMPORT DECLARANT Location: Aylesford, Kent Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00 or 07:30-16:30 Full-time | Office-Based Only Join a Growing Logistics Team and Put Your Customs Expertise to Work We're looking for an experienced Customs Clearance Specialist with a strong background in road import clearance to join our busy team. If you have a passion for precision, an eye for compliance, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and submit import declarations using CDS, CHIEF, and other relevant platforms. • Accurately classify goods using the UK Trade Tariff and assign correct commodity codes. • Review and verify all import documentation (invoices, packing lists, transport docs, licences, certificates). • Liaise with HMRC, Port Health, and other authorities to resolve customs clearance queries. • Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, incoterms, and import controls. • Maintain meticulous records and support audit processes when required. • Communicate with clients, suppliers, and carriers to ensure the timely release of goods. What We're Looking For • 3+ years of experience in full road import clearance. • In-depth knowledge of UK and EU customs procedures. • Proficient in CDS/CHIEF or similar customs declaration software. • Strong understanding of incoterms and international trade practices. • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. • Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders. • Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Desirable (Not Essential) • Experience with bonded warehouses, duty relief schemes, or special customs procedures. • Formal training/qualifications in customs compliance (e.g., UK Customs Academy, CILT, or similar).
