Job Title: Data Protection Assistant
Job Location: Birmingham
Salary: £34,000 - £38,000pa
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: 37 hours per week
About the Role
This role sits within the Governance and Compliance Directorate, as part of the Risk and Assurance team. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across all levels of the organisation to support, deliver, and continuously develop data protection and information governance functions.
The position involves handling highly sensitive information, including commercially sensitive business data and personal information. A high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality is therefore essential.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• A sound understanding of data protection legislation and its practical application.
• Experience of working with data protection and information management processes.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence, and negotiate effectively across teams.
• A positive, professional, and proactive approach to your work.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage sensitive or challenging situations with tact and professionalism.
• Excellent organisational skills, taking ownership of tasks while effectively coordinating activities and priorities.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather information from a range of sources and apply learning from both within and outside the sector to support continuous improvement.
