Job description

Are you a Biochemist with a passion for translating cutting-edge biology into real-world products? We're looking for an ambitious Development Scientist to join our client's team and help shape the next generation of protein science. Joining a fast growing well-funded proteomics start up with a genuinely one-of-a-kind technology, the Development Scientist role is focused on assay development, troubleshooting and optimisation. What you'll do as a Development Scientist: • Design and execute experiments to develop and optimise biological and enzymatic assays, with a focus on robustness, scalability, and transferability • Apply protein characterisation techniques - such as HPLC/FPLC, mass spectrometry, or related analytical methods - to inform and accelerate product development • Troubleshoot and systematically improve performance, yield, robustness, and reproducibility. • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth integration of workflows into the wider platform • Maintain high standards of documentation in line with quality management systems What we're looking for: • An advanced degree (MRes / PhD) in biochemistry or a related discipline, plus some industry experience ideally • Experience with chromatographic techniques (e.g. HPLC/FPLC) for protein purification or characterisation. • Hands-on laboratory experience developing or optimising biological or enzymatic assays or workflows • Strong experimental design skills, with the ability to generate clear, well-controlled data and draw sound conclusions If you're ready to bring your protein science expertise to a fast-moving, commercially focused environment where your work directly shapes products, we'd love to hear from you.
