Job Description Dispenser Location: Len Valley Practice Reports to: Lead Dispenser Hours: Part time/Full time Salary: Dependant on experience Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Dispenser to join our friendly rural dispensing practice. You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate dispensing of medication to our patients. Working with the lead dispenser to ensure effective financial control of the dispensary is maintained. About Us We are a welcoming and expanding GP practice with a list size of 10,200 patients, of which around 60% are dispensing patients. Our team includes five GP Partners, a mix of clinical and non-clinical staff, and 5 part-time dispensers and 3 prescription clerks who work under the supervision of our Lead Dispenser. We are a training practice, hosting medical students and registrars, and we are proud to have a CQC rating of Good. We are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive working environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Dispensing & Supply of Medicines • Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medicines, including NOMAD trays. • Ensure all dispensed items meet legal and professional requirements. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dosage forms, storage requirements, and product uses. 2. Customer Service & Advice • Provide a friendly, professional, and confidential service to patients. • Answer patient queries regarding medicines and prescription queries, referring to the wider team when necessary. 3. Stock Control & Organisation • Receive, check, and store incoming pharmaceutical stock. • Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates to minimise waste. • Maintain accurate stock levels and assist with ordering supplies. 4. Record Keeping & Compliance • Maintain accurate dispensing records in accordance with legal requirements. • Assist in controlled drug management in line with regulations. • Comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and data protection rules. 5. Teamwork & Support • Work closely with team members and wider team in the practice to ensure smooth daily operations. • Participate in training and ongoing professional development. • Assist with general housekeeping and organisation within the dispensary.
