Duty Manager – Convenience Retail Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 Employment Type: Full-Time Hours: 40 hours per week, including weekends and public holidays Important Information • Assessment Day: Tuesday 29th July at 10:00am (approximately 1 hour). • Successful candidates may be invited to a face-to-face second-stage interview. • The first 9 weeks of training will be based in our Birmingham store, so candidates must be able to commute to Birmingham during this period. • Enjoy at least one day off every weekend as part of the rota. About the Role We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Duty Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy high street convenience store. Catering to a diverse customer base, the store offers a comprehensive range of ambient, fresh and frozen food products. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated retail professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a genuine passion for customer service, operational excellence and team development. Key Responsibilities You'll take ownership of the daily running of the store, ensuring exceptional standards across all operational areas, including: • Replenishment of ambient, fresh and frozen stock • Preparation and cooking of hot food • Till operations and cash handling procedures • Receiving and processing deliveries • Date checking, stock reductions and waste management • Store cleanliness and housekeeping • Opening and closing the store as a key holder You will also: • Ensure efficient stock control, storage, rotation and loss prevention practices. • Maintain excellent product availability and presentation standards. • Deliver promotional activity and strong visual merchandising. • Ensure compliance with health & safety and food safety regulations. Team Management • Lead, motivate and develop a team of store colleagues. • Create a positive, high-performing working environment. • Manage staff rotas to ensure effective store coverage. • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback. • Handle employee relations matters professionally and fairly. About You We're looking for someone who has: • Previous retail management or supervisory experience, ideally within convenience, food retail or FMCG environments. • Excellent leadership and communication skills. • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. • The ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. • A proactive, hands-on approach to leadership. • A strong focus on customer satisfaction. • The flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
