English Specialist Teaching AssistantLocation: Tower Hamlets, East London Salary: Negotiable Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only English Specialist Teaching Assistant - Tower HamletsAre you a graduate with a passion for English and a desire to inspire the next generation of learners? A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an English graduate or someone with strong literacy skills who is considering a career in teaching. Working closely with the English Department, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop their reading, writing, comprehension and analytical skills. You will provide targeted interventions, support pupils in lessons and help raise attainment across the department. The Role: • Support students during English lessons across KS3 and KS4. • Deliver small group and one-to-one literacy interventions. • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities. • Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing and communication. • Support pupils preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature. • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff. • Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate: • A degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing or a related subject. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people. • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential. • Patient, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships with students. • An interest in progressing into teacher training in the future is welcomed.
