Job Description - Teacher of EnglishStart Date: September Responsible to: Head of English Purpose of the Role To deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire a love of literature and language, raise attainment, and support students to achieve their full academic potential. Key Responsibilities • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable). • Teach a range of literature and language topics in line with the national curriculum. • Assess, track, and support student progress effectively. • Provide feedback to improve student outcomes. • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment. • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development. • Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or writing enrichment. • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and high standards of behaviour. Person Specification • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). • Degree in English or a related subject. • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature. • Effective classroom management and communication skills. • Enthusiastic, reflective, and committed to raising achievement. • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
