Environmental Health Officer • Hourly Rate: £50 per hour (via umbrella company) • Location: Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead • Job Type: Contract (Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office/site visits, 2 days remote) • Contract Length: Initially 3 months, with potential extension We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Protection Team at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. This role is crucial for supporting a busy service, primarily focused on environmental protection functions including noise nuisance investigations, air quality matters, and statutory nuisance complaints. Day-to-day of the role: • Conduct noise nuisance investigations and manage statutory nuisance complaints. • Address air quality issues, including monitoring and reporting. • Draft and serve legal notices related to environmental protection. • Investigate complex environmental protection cases. • Prepare legal files and represent the Council in court proceedings. • Provide expert environmental health advice on planning and licensing consultations. • Support enforcement activities across various environmental protection functions. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Extensive experience in Environmental Protection or Environmental Health within a local authority setting. • Strong knowledge of statutory nuisance, noise nuisance, and air quality legislation. • Proven track record of undertaking investigations and formal enforcement actions. • Experience in drafting and defending legal notices. • Court attendance and evidential experience. • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. • Additional experience in contaminated land, pollution prevention and control, planning consultations, or prosecution work would be advantageous.
