Estimator – Groundworks & Civil Engineering South Birmingham Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience Full-Time | Permanent About the CompanyOur client is a well-established and growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in South Birmingham. Delivering projects across the Midlands, they work with a range of residential developers, commercial contractors, and infrastructure clients, providing high-quality groundwork, drainage, roads, foundations, and external works packages. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team. The RoleAs an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for groundworks and civil engineering projects. Working closely with the Commercial Director and operational teams, you will play a key role in securing new business and supporting the company's continued expansion. Key Responsibilities • Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, and contract documents. • Prepare detailed cost estimates for groundwork and civil engineering projects. • Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations. • Carry out quantity take-offs and cost planning exercises. • Assess project risks and identify value engineering opportunities. • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the tender process. • Prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation. • Attend pre- and post-tender meetings where required. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates and industry trends. Requirements • Previous experience as an Estimator within Groundworks, Civil Engineering, or Construction. • Strong understanding of groundwork packages including drainage, roads, foundations, and external works. • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software. • Strong communication and negotiation skills. • Full UK driving licence preferred.
