SEN Teaching Assistant Full-Time | Long-Term | Potential to Go Permanent £95–£120 per day We are recruiting a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful School - based in South-End-On-Sea. This could be a Part-time or full-time, long-term role, and there is a chance of going permanent with school after 12 weeks for the right candidate. The Setting This specialist school provides highly personalised education for pupils with: • Autism with complex profiles • Significant communication needs (including non-verbal pupils) Classes are small, staffing ratios are high, and learning is adapted to meet pupils at their individual developmental levels. The Role As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils within a structured, sensory-rich learning environment • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support • Assist with personal care where required • Promote communication development • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff • Contribute to a safe, calm, and consistent daily routine Who We’re Looking For Essential: • Experience working in SEND/SEN settings • Confidence supporting pupils with MLD (moderate learning disabilities) • Experience across different age groups (Early Years through Secondary is welcomed) • A nurturing, calm, and resilient approach Desirable: • Experience with sensory-based learning • Knowledge of alternative communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, visuals) • Background in care, therapy support, or specialist education Requirements • Part or Full-time availability • DBS Certificate (Enhanced Child & Adult - we can process this for you) • Able to start ASAP • 2 years of references • Willing to complete a trial day or trial week If you are looking for consistency, professional growth, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in specialist SEND education, this role offers exactly that
