As an EYFS Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children's holistic development. You will work within Nursery and Reception classrooms supporting the Seven Areas of Learning and Development, or provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with additional needs.
What Will You Be Doing?
• Supporting EYFS Learning: Facilitating both adult-led activities and child-initiated play to promote communication, language, and physical development.
• Providing Dedicated 1:1 Support: Assisting specific pupils who require extra help to access the curriculum and thrive in the early years environment.
• Observations & Progress Tracking: Helping teachers observe and record children's milestones in line with the EYFS profile.
• SEND & Wellbeing Support: Assisting pupils with SEND, neurodivergence (such as ASD or ADHD), or speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
• Creating a Safe, Inclusive Space: Ensuring a positive, nurturing, and safe environment where the Characteristics of Effective Learning can flourish.
Who Are We Looking For?Are you patient, nurturing, and confident working with children aged 3 to 5? Can you stay calm under pressure, embrace a play-based learning approach, and respond positively to challenges?
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including those with experience in:
• Primary schools (Nursery/Reception)
• Pre-schools, private nurseries, and childcare environments
• SEND settings or speech and language intervention
• Care/support work and youth work
Note: Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH needs, or speech and language difficulties is highly desirable, but a nurturing attitude and a passion for early years development are what matter most.
