Job description

My client is one of the UK’s largest privately owned supplier of Fleet Management Solutions technology systems and are looking to appoint an experienced Field Engineering Manager as they continue to grow from strength to strength. This role requires a proactive and dynamic Engineering professional to help lead and support the engineering team operations. This role is essential to maintaining high-quality service delivery, team performance, and field installation standards across client sites. You'll serve as the key point of contact for the mobile engineering team, ensuring operational excellence, client satisfaction, and effective communication between departments. Field Engineering Manager package and requirements: • Salary £40,000 - £43,000 + Overtime + Vehicle and fuel card • Private healthcare • Must be able to visit the office in the Midlands at least once a week • Shifts – 4 days on, 4 days off – some evening work • Strong experience in managing field-based engineering teams. • Technical understanding of CCTV, telematics, or automotive electrical systems. • Proven ability to handle reactive situations and shift planning with flexibility. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Field Engineering Manager responsibilities: • Oversee and support field-based engineers across customer sites, providing real-time technical guidance, resolving on-site issues, and ensuring high standards of punctuality, conduct, and presentation. • Ensure full compliance with health & safety standards for all engineers and contractors, while maintaining quality control to minimise repeat visits and improve overall service delivery. • Act as the primary link between field and office teams, maintaining clear communication, managing client relationships, conducting site visits, and handling complaints through to resolution and continuous improvement. • Carry out regular site audits, engineer assessments, and performance reviews in line with KPIs, providing structured feedback and supporting ongoing development, wellbeing, and training. • Represent the engineering function in management and cross-departmental communications, contributing to operational strategy, process improvements, and quality standards. • Support senior leadership with hiring, disciplinary matters, and team development decisions, while engaging with suppliers and stakeholders to report issues and drive continuous improvement.
