Field Service Engineer - SolarLocation: Bodmin, Cornwall Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent ARM is recruiting on behalf of a leading renewable energy business for an experienced Field Service Engineer - Solar to join their growing operations team. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of solar PV systems and associated electrical infrastructure across UK-wide renewable energy sites. This is a hands-on field-based position ideal for an electrician or solar engineer looking to develop their career within the renewable energy sector, working across both planned and reactive maintenance activities. Role OverviewYou will be responsible for supporting the ongoing performance, reliability, and safety of operational solar PV assets. The role includes fault diagnosis, maintenance activities, system performance monitoring, and electrical installation work across multiple sites. The position requires flexibility to travel across the UK and participate in a maintenance rota, including occasional evenings and weekends. Key Responsibilities • Carry out installation and commissioning of low voltage solar PV electrical systems. • Perform planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault repairs on operational sites. • Monitor system performance and participate in site inspection rota duties, including weekend cover. • Diagnose electrical faults and implement effective corrective actions. • Analyse operational data to identify performance improvements. • Produce clear and accurate technical reports and maintenance records. • Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and project teams across multiple sites. Essential Requirements • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or City & Guilds 2365-02/03 equivalent). • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent). • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification. • Minimum 5 years? experience in the electrical industry. • Strong organisational and communication skills. • Methodical and detail-focused working approach. • Competent IT skills for reporting and documentation. • Full UK driving licence. • Willingness to travel nationwide and work flexible hours. Desirable Experience • Experience in solar PV installation and maintenance. • Familiarity with inverter systems and commissioning processes. • Experience with communications setup and system configuration. • Exposure to high voltage systems (desirable but not essential).
