Finance Manager
Location: East London (office-based, )
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + benefits
A growing and fast-paced retail business is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its London-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a full finance function within a dynamic, multi-site environment.
Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in both the day-to-day financial operations and long-term strategic planning of the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily cash, bank, and card reconciliations across multiple locations
• Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and financial controls
• Manage supplier accounts, invoice queries, and purchasing processes
• Prepare payroll information and ensure timely submissions
• Post journals (including accruals and prepayments) and maintain accurate financial records
• Lead month-end close processes and support management accounts preparation
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the fixed asset register
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and manage HMRC communications
• Support statutory compliance including Companies House and corporation tax processes
• Deliver financial and operational reporting to senior stakeholders
• Monitor costs, identify efficiencies, and support budgeting and forecasting
• Provide commercial finance support across operations and store functions
• Liaise with external parties including auditors and advisors
About You
• Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar role
• Background in retail, FMCG, or multi-site environments preferred
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including VAT and payroll
• Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero)
• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across the business
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) desirable
