The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic Finance Manager who can bring strong technical financial capability, commercial awareness and strategic thinking to Odstock Medical Ltd. (OML).
Working directly alongside the Managing Director, you will become a trusted business partner, providing insight, challenge and financial leadership to support decision-making as the company scales.
This role is designed for someone who wants to progress beyond financial management and develop towards a future Finance Directorposition, taking ownership of the financial strategy and growth of the organisation.
You will play a central role in strengthening our financial framework, improving reporting capability, supporting investment decisions and ensuring OML continues to grow responsibly within the Medical Technology sector.
Duties and responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Business Growth
• Work closely with the Managing Director to support the financial growth strategy of OML.
• Provide commercial insight and financial guidance to support business decisions
• Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and performance management
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and scalability
• Support strategic projects and future investment opportunities
Financial Management
• Take ownership of the company's Profit & Loss (P&L) management
• Manage monthly management accounts, reporting and financial analysis
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, financial controls and business performance tracking
• Manage banking relationships and financial processes
• Ensure accurate and timely financial information is available to the leadership team
Board & Executive Reporting
• Prepare high-quality financial reports and board papers
• Present financial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
• Translate financial data into clear commercial actions
• Support governance, compliance and business planning activities
Operational Excellence
• Strengthen finance systems, processes and reporting structures
• Support the development of scalable financial operations
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to embed strong financial understanding
• Contribute to building a high-performing Medical Technology business.
About You
You are a proactive, commercially focused finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-moving, innovative environment.
You will bring:
Strong experience in financial management, ideally within Medical Technology, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Engineering, or another regulated sector
Proven experience managing P&L, budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting
The ability to work closely with senior leadership and influence business decisions
Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into meaningful insight
A hands-on approach with the ambition to make a genuine impact
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage across all levels
You may already be operating as a Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant, or Deputy Finance Lead and be looking for the next step in your career.
Financial Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a finance professional who combines strong technical capability with commercial understanding and the ambition to grow into a future Finance Director role.
Essential Qualifications:
Qualified accountant or working towards
a recognised professional accountancy qualification, such as:
• Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants (ACCA)
• Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants (CIMA)
• Institute of Chartered
Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
Strong understanding of UK financial
accounting principles, statutory reporting, and financial controls
Experience managing and interpreting
Profit & Loss accounts, balance sheets, cash flow and financial
performance reporting
Proven experience preparing management
accounts and financial information for senior leadership teams
Experience supporting budgeting,
forecasting and business planning processes
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience working within
Medical Technology, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Engineering, Manufacturing,
or another regulated industry
Experience supporting a growing
organisation through change, scaling, or transformation
Understanding of commercial finance,
revenue growth, margin improvement, and operational efficiency
Experience preparing board-level
financial reports, presentations, and strategic insights
Experience working with banking
relationships, audits, compliance, and financial governance
Skills & Attributes:
