Job titleFinance Manager BandSimilar and in line with NHS Pay Band 6 Hours21 hours per week BaseGP Practice premises Responsible toPractice Manager and GP Partners Job purposeTo provide financial management support to the practice, ensuring accurate records, timely reporting, and effective financial control. The post holder will support the Practice Manager and Partners with budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, and financial decision-making. Main duties and responsibilities • Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting reports. • Monitor income, expenditure, and cash flow. • Produce budget reports and forecast future financial performance. • Oversee purchase ledger, supplier payments, and reconciliations. • Support payroll processing and liaise with external payroll providers. • Check pension, tax, and other statutory submissions where relevant. • Reconcile bank accounts and maintain financial controls. • Support year-end accounts preparation and work with external accountants. • Monitor practice income streams, including enhanced services and contract income. • Identify risks, variances, and savings opportunities. • Support procurement, value for money, and business planning. • Ensure financial procedures are followed and kept up to date. • Assist with audits, returns, and ad hoc financial projects. Key working relationships • GP Partners. • Practice Manager. • Reception and administration team. • External accountants. • Payroll providers. • Bank representatives. • PCN or federation finance colleagues, where appropriate. CommunicationThe post holder will need to explain financial information clearly to colleagues who may not have a finance background. They will be expected to provide written and verbal updates that are accurate, concise, and easy to understand. Responsibility for informationThe post holder will handle confidential financial and staff information and must maintain strict confidentiality at all times. Policy and service developmentThe post holder will contribute to the review and improvement of financial systems, policies, and working practices within the practice.
