Job description

Finance Manager West Leeds area Up to £58,000 On-site parking Are you a Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant looking for a role where you can genuinely influence the direction of a growing business? Do you enjoy partnering with senior stakeholders, leading a team and improving processes rather than simply producing the numbers? We're partnering with a well-established and highly respected Leeds-based manufacturing business looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join their experienced finance team. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, supporting commercial decision-making and ensuring the finance function continues to evolve alongside the business. This is a varied role where you'll combine technical accounting expertise with people management, business partnering and continuous improvement. You'll lead the month-end process, produce insightful management information for the board, oversee cashflow and working capital, support budgeting and forecasting, and manage a small finance team of two. You'll also work closely with operational managers, helping them understand performance, control costs and make informed business decisions. This opportunity would suit an ambitious qualified accountant who enjoys getting involved in the detail while also looking at the bigger picture and influencing positive change. Key responsibilities: • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts and KPI reporting • Produce insightful board reports to support strategic decision-making • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls are maintained • Business partner with departmental managers to monitor costs, challenge spend and improve profitability • Support the Finance Director with annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and cashflow planning • Monitor working capital and cash forecasting, working closely with banking partners where required • Lead, develop and motivate a small finance team, creating a supportive and high-performing culture • Take ownership of the annual audit process, VAT reporting and statutory compliance • Oversee stock reporting, fixed assets and provide meaningful analysis to support manufacturing performance • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and add value across the finance function About you: We're ideally looking for a qualified CIMA/ACCA Accountant/qualified by experience candidate with previous experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant role looking to make that step up. You'll ideally have experience within a manufacturing environment but this isn't essential. The client will consider candidates who have managed or mentored a team previously and those who are looking to step into a manager role as part of their development. Strong Excel skills are essential, and experience of ERP systems or system implementations would be helpful. Most importantly, you'll be commercially minded, naturally organised and someone who enjoys improving processes while helping others succeed. What's on offer: • Performance-related bonus • Contributory pension scheme • Flexible start and finish times, can start at 7am and finish up to 7pm • 1pm finish on a Friday if wanted • Ongoing learning and development • Health and wellbeing initiatives • Staff discounts and regular company social events • The opportunity to join a market-leading business with ambitious growth plans and a genuinely supportive culture
